Reporting crime

Not all crime constitutes an emergency so you won’t need to call 999 to tell us about it.

Instead you can report it to us in one of three ways:

1. Call the Essex Police non-emergency number 101 or alternatively, 0300 333 4444

2. In person at your local police station or to your Neighbourhood Specialist Officer

3. Use our minicom service

Unfortunately we are not able to receive reports of crime online as the service previously provided by the national police portal at www.police.uk has been suspended.

Non-emergency number

101 is the Essex Police non-emergency number and is available 24 hours a day seven days a week.

Calls made from anywhere across the county are connected to a switchboard at Essex Police and then directed to the most appropriate person, department or station

The non-emergency number does not replace 999.
