Edward Vine created a new topic vandalism watchout for random hedge vandals in the forum.Dear all
Warning to residents of Church Langley.
Tree and hedge vandals on the loose.
20 years ago, after consultation with the council the green in Fenton Grange was at great expense carefully planted up with specialist and carefully chosen perimeter hedges, trees and a central shrubbery.
This planting scheme was agreed with the residents and over the last 18 or so has reached a very beautiful and satisfactory maturity.
The perimeter hedge did function as a barrier to prevent young children running into the road on a bend where cars do travel too fast. It also was aesthetically pleasing, provided refuge and nesting site for birds and screened the road from the green. Being on the outside of a concave bend the perimeter hedge in no way restricted the view of the roadway to left or right.
After many years of careful tending Vandals, are as I write, needlessly attacking the perimeter hedge and have decimated it to ground level.
It seems the culprits are a white van man with signage saying Keir on the side: they must be a rough out of control bunch of amateurs: they surely can't be from the council as the council would surely consult with the residents before such major surgery.
The hedge only needed the regular spring level of maintenance and only a reckless person would authorise the vastly multiplied amount of time and labour on major vandalism over the few minutes it would have taken to trim the hedges.
If these guys are actually working for the council perhaps the council should act to curb excessive spending and out of control zeal and actually talk to residents before acting on a walk about initiated by councillors: after all you are meant to represent us with reasonable consultation and it is our money you are spending. Otherwise please apprehend these vandals.
I suggest other residents should look out for this reckless vandals and bring their controllers to book.

All....the continuing problem of dog owners not picking up their animals mess has been raised again. As a dog owner myself I cannot understand why owners do it....even less understand why some owners do pick it up and then throw the bag in the trees!!
What are your suggestions for tackling this?....Publicity campaign....Council Enforcement?....

The petition for this has now gone to Essex CC and a response sent to Andie Norris....it is a case of wait and see at the moment. Our Ward Councillors do have a meeting coming up about the fund, I am assured that there is no time limit with this S106 fund but we are still trying to find out how it can best be used for us residents.
